What is a PI Workshop?
report

This is a series of workshops designed to guide you through the right steps towards becoming a private investigator. It can also serve to complement courses that you take in learning institutions or other online courses. All information is valuable and the more you know, the more successful you will be as a private investigator.

Investigative Techniques. Roping, Pretexts, Surveillance

With the freedom of Information act, the public is taking an active
interest in the information that government agencies are compiling about them. There are facts about you and the general public that are available, if you know where to look. So how do you get to that point? Where do you look?

Enter the World of the Private Investigator

That’s where the Private Detective pulls the thread through the needlehead. There are no special or magic potions. Only the police have the hands-on material to pull up any relevant info. But a P.I. who has done his or her homework can be successful at carrying out assignments. This demands many hours of reading books and on-the-job training. Thus, a lot of P.I.’s are retired Police officers.

So You Were Never a Cop, but Still Want to be Able to Investigate as a PI on Your Own?

It’s where and how you obtain information - the more you do, the better you become. When you finish the course you will be your own P.I., who in turn will be able to help someone else. I will tell you up front if you decide to become a Private Investigator, you will need a license. Do not practice without one - if you dare do so, you can and will be arrested by the police.

Who Can Be a PI?

Anyone who acquires a private investigator’s license can be a PI. Of course there are standards and requisites that must be met to attain one.

What Kind of Person Makes the Best PI?

PI work requires great versatility, tact, and the ability to take on the roles demanded for each assignment. Naturally, it is best not to be too obvious. Therefore actors often make great PIs. Women actually have an advantage in that the stereotypical image of a PI is typically a large male in a trench coat (ha!).

How Do You Get a PI License?

There are a few ways to get this license. Laws differ from state to state and country to country. So check with your national laws and the legal situations particular to your state or province before undertaking any investigative work.

The Privacy Act

Be aware, under the privacy act, most records are closed to you, ie: Police, State, Federal and Interpol. Getting these records will take intrigue, tact, and having connections with the the right person in the right place. But once you are a PI, other than the ones mentioned, most records will be accessible to you.

Who Has the Information a PI Needs?

They are called informants - people who work in the places you need records from. What’s in it for them? Well, to begin, money is often a good enticement. But, my god, you better be careful. In some cases, being very tactful and quick on your feet is the only way to literally exist in this business. I was in the business for ten years so I know what I’m talking about.

What Does This Course Offer?

The information in this course was generated through my over thirty years experience. Of course, we’re not going to share our hard-learned for free. In the paid membership section, you will access information and know-how that is very valuable to anyone aspiring to be a private investigator.

Everyone has their own way of learning whether they learn better by reading, on the job training, or using this course to get you started.
